Stories of Grief

Nothing like a road trip or two over summer for belting out some cheesy pop tunes or power ballads, and for catching up on podcasts, audiobooks, and pondering the meaning of life.

If you’re wanting some content to help lean into the tougher subject of grief, this podcast is recommended. Head to the 18 minute mark if you wish, and you’ll hear two friends sharing their personal experiences with grief – Richelle losing her young and healthy-living Mum of cancer, and Abbey losing her darling big brother in a car accident at a young age.

Their ability to share openly their experiences, the facts and the feelings, can be really cathartic for us all. You’ll hear their voices catch, the emotion and love, and the loss in their stories. Woven in there are a few f-bombs and giggles – you’ll hear two dynamic besties, sharing a deep chat about the realist moments in life, in a really honest way.

Part of the ‘why’ for Holdmine is to enable us all to have better conversations about our end of life wishes, and grief. It’s a hard, confronting topic and yet one we all have no escape from. We hope by sharing this, it’ll help us start to feel a little more open to holding space for ourselves, and others, when love, loss and grief are present.

Abbey and Richelle share insight too on what constructive support can look like if you’re grieving. Please ask for help if you need it.

For now, get the tissues out, and lean in. Take care.

“You honour them by living” - Richelle

“If you’re struggling, reach out for support. You have to go through it” - Abbey (paraphrased)
